If elected in this position:

  • I will aim to provide a safe space and community for all LGBTQ+ students within the university to voice any worries, suggestions, or just to socialise with other people in the LGBTQ+ community.
  • I will encourage students to express themselves and their opinions if they are comfortable to do so, and voice their opinions on their behalf if they would rather. I have been with my transgender partner for nearly three years now and I have seen the way transgender people are treated by others in public, so I will strive to make the university a safe and welcoming environment for people to be who they truly are whilst working towards their goals.
  • I will chase up any training opportunities given by the university to both staff and students on the relevant policies, procedures and behaviours towards LGBTQ+ students and keep members of the community in the know. I will also push towards getting feedback forms and forums set up for the community so there may be a possibility to arrange social meetings and catch ups with both students and staff alike.
