• You hardly would find anyone more willing to put in the time and effort your voice needs to be heard clearly and actioned properly. Be it as a rep, an officer, or the youth mayor – being outspoken, holding others to account, and working together tirelessly for those I represent – is who I am. I don’t intend to stop doing that any time soon.

• In my years as a representative, be they at university or otherwise, I’ve had my fair share of struggles, but after everyone else gave up, I persevered and got your voice to the forefront. Exactly where it should be.

• When it comes to your student experience and what you take away from studying at Derby Uni. I think for today – we can be doing a lot more. Essay mills, no external certification and degrees that don’t keep up with “real world” demands – are just a couple that have solutions in the pipeline, but we have been too slow, not persistent enough, not proactive enough, with your voice to implement.

• Looking at what the future holds for us, and how well we are positioned to lead the country with, as a university. For those with passions and interests that span across disciplines – provide the resources for them to explore, or even work towards certification, without needing to switch degrees.
