My name is Anna-Louise Howell, and I am standing for National Student Rights Campaigner (NUS Delegate). My roles would be to attend the NUS National Conference, the National Conference is celebrating its 100-year centenary. The conference attendees are there to build your communities and shape the future of education for all students and to make sure that all students with a disability have their voices heard.
I am enthusiastic in everything that I do, I am a hardworking, dedicated person that will move heaven and earth to make sure that all student voices are heard and if a change needs to be done it will be.
I am passionate about making sure that people are heard throughtout democracy, whether that is within university, the community or on a national scale, because of my own experience with having Autism myself, I was told that I would amount to anything, I would be unable to repersent my peers, however proved people wrong, I demonstrated this during my two previous roles one as President of the Student Union at college where I got the privilege to go to the National conference while I have in a residential college, where I had the chance to stand on stage to address 900+ people to get a motion passed to make the wording of NUS easier to understand this motion was passed with no objecting or standing against it. which was a very proud moment. and my second role as a representative for my county with Pembrokeshire People first National Council, it was my job to make sure that people with learning difficulties got their voices heard on a national scale which I got to do on more than one occasion.
I always maintain a professional mannerism when I do things, whether that is course work, practical tasks, or out in the local community and within education. I have good administrative skills and feel I have strengths in organizing files and planning.
I would like to make sure that everything that NUS is saying and doing is 100% completed being relied on by the University Union and to the correct people that it needs to be sent to.
