Catherine Starr

PGR Chair

profile

My name is Cate, I am currently a final year PGR student in Psychology.

I am a mother of two, planning to get married next year. I love hanging out with family, watching films and reading. We have recently got into Warhammer 40k and enjoy painting the figures and creating environments.

I have been the PGR chair for the last year and really enjoyed the role and got plenty done so far.

Therefore, I want to run for PGR Chair so that I can continue the work I have been doing and ensure that the PGR council is officially set up and running smoothly by the time I graduate.

key aims

  • Complete improving the enrolment process for loan funded PGR students
  • Establish the PGR council

what i have done as a student/Programme rep/sports committee member etc.

During my time as a PGR Chair I have worked with the PGR team and the Union to set up a better enrolment system for loan funded PGR students. We also worked to change the way the Research offices were accessed to make life easier for PGR students.

Prior to being the PGR chair I had been a rep throughout my undergraduate degree and masters. I worked alongside the union to make changes to the timetabling system, as well as work to change the date of assessment moderation to ensure that students who had a support plan would have their work marked in time to attend the summer graduation.
