A Bit About Myself
I am in my first year studying BSc Economics and Finance, and I am the student representative for the course. I also play for the Derby Mens Badminton team. Being an international student myself, I am aware that the road is not always smooth, finding the right accommodation to exploring university facilities to finding reliable shopping stores takes time and to be honest lots of walking around. Having faced all of these problems myself, I wish there had been someone who could have helped me discover more, sooner, undoubtedly it would have saved me both time and money. To capitalize on this experience of mine, I decided to help and represent international students and their interests.

My Aims and Goals

• Special On Campus Facility Inductions-The University has a lot of resources to offer in terms of specialized labs, studios, sports halls and so much more. However, a delay in visas, hectic travel schedules or simply not looking at induction emails could mean that you have missed your induction. I aim to offer special on campus inductions for international students as per their convenience.

• Clubs and Societies- Every international student shares a sense of pride in having established a society that represents their community and culture. I would offer full support and resources to help International students build societies representing their nation, background, culture, tradition or even a hobby.

• Language Support- To come from a completely different linguistic background and adapt to a new language is undoubtedly an accomplishment we should be proud of. I am considerate towards students seeking for language support and I aim to provide extra language support sessions with respect to your timetables.

• Representing International Students-From personal experience I have learned that communicating can solve most of the problems, my main goal remains communicating your problems and concerns to the appropriate university staff. I plan on standing in solidarity with you until you are satisfied with the outcome.

In a Nutshell
Imagine what can be achieved if hundreds of minds come together and work as one rather than working in isolation. The creativity, the impact and the results would be beyond imaginable. To bring all our minds together and work for our community which is formed of representatives from all over the globe is a mission to empower, strengthen knowledge and share valuable experiences.
