Hi
My name is Francesca Bullock (Frankie), a second-year student studying Primary Education at the University of Derby. I would love to be the voice and support for all the mature students at the University of Derby as the Part time Mature Students Officer.
I am a mature student myself and have a nearly 7-year-old son who I work my studies around. He is the reason I want to become a primary school teacher. I also currently work part-time in a care home, caring for vulnerable people. I love to help people and being a mature student myself I am aware of some of the struggles that go along with this such as childcare amongst other things.
I would really like to be the approachable, friendly person you can come to with your concerns and praises were mature students are concerned.
My aims are:
- To put together a society where mature students can meet other mature students. To create a network of support of like-minded students.
- Organise events where mature students feel they are included at times suitable for mature students to attend.
