Dear All,
My name is Adetunji Adedeji, a final-year student studying Computing and Information technologies at the University of Derby. After recently served as a Volunteer Leader at VMO Foundation for few years, I would love to make myself available to support my fellow colleagues as your new Online Learners Officer.
My knowledge on Leadership, Strategic collaboration and communication as proven by the Gold Level achievement at Futures Award organised the University of Derby, and such more personal experiences garner and galvanised at my work environment has enable me to understand the gaps in catering to the yearning of group of people, as well as achieving the collective set goals and objectives of the people, in which every individual under my leadership would benefit from.
I have gone through online learning educations, previously I was at the Chartered Institute of IT, Swindon, London, and I totally understood what it takes to study online and what the demands, benefits, struggles and pain points could and would be, particularly for busy person, and also the joy, happiness and accomplishments after all is achieved.
Working with the solid foundation set by the remarkable Union and its team, and also the awesome University of Derby Staff, we would experience a greater future, but the opportunities to achieve our collective dreams are limitless, and I would love us to be part of it together as ONE. YES, WE CAN and YES, WE WILL!!!
My aims are:
- To improve the choosing of courses by the students in order to create a future career path for themselves or apply to Master’s program with courses that are need, and not just courses provided by at different semesters.
- To improve studying opportunities and experiences by providing online volunteering platforms to online learner wherever they might be studying from.
- To improve the relationship and collaborating between the online learners and their course instructors.
- Foster collaborations on projects, on research papers among student who want to venture into it and receive support in the terms of guidance, supervision etc in achieving such endeavour.
- Bridge the gaps between fulltime student and online learners in the aspect of Institution benefits, department experience and others to be extended to the online learners.
- To creating awareness and campaigns with the support of the University of Derby key personnel in bringing to global consciousness that the curriculum and teaching are the same irrespective of whether you are fulltime or online learner to avert any form of discrimination from other Institutions around the world.
- To create a strong support or network group, for online learner to meet, share their experiences and voice their opinions.
- To push for having a dedicated communication phone lines to online learners.
I sincerely do hope I can achieve this with you and so much more, but it takes your votes!
