Lacrosse Club Manifesto – Women’s Captain
About Me
Hey, It’s Robyn! I am a 2nd year Geology student who has been a member of the University of Derby Lacrosse club for the last 2 years, and I usually play in midfield. You’ll either see me drinking a few too many jagerbombs, using 3 different coloured inhalers or hyping up how much I love this club and its members! I am dedicated to the club on and off the pitch and would LOVE to be considered to take over the role as Women’s Captain for the next academic year.
Why Me?
- I have previous experiences in captaining various sports teams, including swimming, cricket and climbing. Notably, I captained the Yorkshire ice swimming team at the British Championships in 2019.
- Outside of lacrosse, during my 2nd year I have been the VP of the Geological Society (organise guest lectures and society hoodies), the Sports Editor of the Phantom news, Academic Rep for my course and, I always make my 9ams. This has involved a huge amount of personal organisation, all of which I can transfer onto the lacrosse committee.
- I am not a scary person at all, and I believe my positive attitude makes me a very approachable person.
- Possibly annoyingly, but I am always around! I am dedicated to every aspect of UoD lacrosse from training to the game to the sesh.
Aims
- Organise preseason training to reintroduce lacrosse to current members who won’t have played very much over the summer. (Early September)
- Plan/organise structured fitness focused sessions for both the men’s and women’s teams
- Google form to make feedback and man of the match/dick of the day nominations easier
- Watch more games together as part of sober socials – definitely beneficial to understand basic plays and rules.
- Work with the committee to help with recruitment and engage a regular group of freshers who will integrate into the existing team seamlessly.
- Ensure lacrosse training is a fun break from studying, rather than a chore.
Thank you!
Robyn
