Manifesto
My name is Leila and I am a first-year forensic science student with a passion for climbing. My focus for the club in the coming year is to help improve the climbing ability of all members no matter what level they are at currently. I want to make the club an inclusive environment in which experienced and beginner climbers share the wall.
If I was elected vice-president, I would look to improve the wall in two ways, physically and practically. I want to improve the wall physically, by making changing the routes on the bouldering wall more frequent. If this was not possible then as an alternative the existing routes on the wall would be used to create pick and mix routes until the routes could be properly changed. I want to improve the wall practically by dealing with the overcrowding issue to allow for a better experience when at the university. To do this I would look at implementing either an additional climbing session - whether the session is weekly or fortnightly, splitting the club into two with half the club climbing one day and half the club climbing the other, or by limiting how many people can attend each session by using a first come first serve system.
Another aim I have for the year is to introduce more climbing competitions within the club by introducing leader boards in the lattice board, as well as in top rope and the fingerboard. I would also make an effort to partake in more competitions with other universities. I would also focus on creating more non-drinking social events such as bowling and going to the cinema so that every member of the club can enjoy events no matter their view on drinking or clubbing.
In summary, I enjoy climbing at this club very much and want to share this enthusiasm with as many people as possible.
