About me

Hi, my name is Thomas Wheatley and I am a Youth Work and Community Development student, currently in my first year. I have been dancing for over 10 years and have completed up to grade 5 Ballet and Intermediate Tap. I am currently on the tap team and this year, I am running to be Events and Kit secretary.

Reasons I think I would make a good events and kit sec

  • I am organised and have good time management skills. This means that kits would be organised quickly and at the lowest possible price. I would also make sure that the payment process is as quick and easy as possible. My organisational skills also mean that I would be able to juggle the different aspects of the role well.
  • I like to think that I am an approachable person and could offer support to members of the team if they needed it. This doesn’t just have to be about events and kit!
  • I am passionate about a wide range of charitable issues and so I am looking forward to identifying an amazing charity that we could support and fundraise for. Fundraisers would be fun and engaging and can act as team building events too!
  • I enjoy planning events and will do so far in advance to ensure that everything runs smoothly. I would make sure that the showcase is well marketed and organised so that it is a great opportunity for the team to show off what we have achieved. As well as showcase I would make sure that spookabout is well organised and supported and ensure that the team has as many opportunities to perform in front of a crowd as possible. My communication skills are good and so I would work well with the netball committee to plan an amazing event.
  • I feel that it would be an advantage having a boy on the committee. I want to encourage as many boys as possible to join the team by showing that we are an inclusive group. I have been made to feel so welcome by everyone since I joined in September and I want to extend this to all freshers next year.
