Candidate for the position of Football & Futsal Women's - Club Development Officer

Emily Hayden

Hello lads, I hope most of you know who I am by now. But if you aren’t sure then hey, I’m Emily, one of the many Em’s on our team, but more specifically, I’m the one who runs like a drugged up squirrel. :)

When I first saw this role being introduced, I immediately felt really excited and wanted to get stuck in and  help as much as I can. This is the reason I’m running to become our club’s development officer. I don’t think it really needs to be said that our second team players haven’t received the same number of opportunities as the first team have, leading to the second team being pretty let down by the club overall. I want to commit to changing this.

If I was elected as our club’s development officer, I will work alongside other members of the committee, such as our newly appointed president, and will commit to:

  • Not only listen to what our players want and need from the club, but will also carry this out to the best of my ability. Our second team players haven’t been heard this year… I want to be your voice to ensure that this doesn’t happen again!
  • I will also push for specific training sessions focused around our second team players, so that training can be tailored to meet exactly what everybody wants and needs. At past clubs, I have helped out and led several one-to-one coaching drills with development players; I believe this experience makes me further suited for this role.
  • I will also organise more fixtures for our second team, against different universities and teams of a variety of standards. This will help to give you all the well-deserved opportunity to put into practise what you learn in training, and show off the skills we all know you’ve got in your lockers!

The final thing which I really want to emphasise here, is that I want to unify the club again. With (hopefully) having me as our club’s development officer, I want to bridge the gap that we have all seen this year between our first and second team players. We are one team and always have been, and therefore we all deserve the same number of opportunities so that we can grow and develop together.

I am really excited to get involved within the club, so I really hope you guys do your bit now; put your trust in me and vote for the best Em!

Cheers lads x
