Hello! I’m Karolina, and I am a 2nd year BSc Psychology student. I have been a member of the club for the last two years. When I first came to England, I had a long break from regular riding until joining the university club. It was one of the best days ever! During my first year, I was a member of the A-Team. However, because of Covid, I did not get a chance to get involved as much as I did this year as a B-Team member. This year allowed me to gain insights into the club, and I got to know most of you, which made me genuinely excited to be a part of the committee next year!
I have always had a passion for horses. As a kid, I would ask my parents to go and see ponies, where eventually, I started learning how to ride at around 11 years old. After many years of recreational riding, for the next 4 years or so, I was in charge of riding four very different horses that belonged to a woman who did not feel like riding anymore. However, she would be training me instead and taught me everything I know, and that is how I discovered my passion for dressage, and I became more serious about the sport.
Being part of the club offered me further self-improvement by riding different horses and gaining more competing experience. I used to compete in show jumping in the past; however, I never had a chance to compete in dressage until joining the BUCS. Knowing how happy I am to personally gain so much out of the club and I want to make it happen for all of you by executing the following:
- Implementing regular lessons with targeted goals to help riders of all levels improve based on skills
- Hosting more internal competitions depending on the interest of the members could be fun or competitive, for example, pony club games or dressage
- Supporting the social secretary in hosting ridden social like trekking
- Supporting the competition secretary in providing opportunities for recreational riders to help out at home competitions to gain experience of BUCS
If you vote for me as your secretary, I hope to make your riding experience more enjoyable and individual-oriented. I will listen to your opinions and suggestions if you have any. Thank you. Karolina.
