About me
Hey everyone, I’m Matt. I’ve been a member of Derby university’s Lacrosse club for the past year and a half and I’m finally getting off my ass and running for committee. I’ve chosen to run for treasurer as it’s often overlooked, and I feel in this role I can have a positive impact on the club both now and into the future.
I’m currently in my second year, studying Computer Games Modelling and Animation (Basically doing the art for video games), I believe the inter-disciplinary teamwork skills needed to work with different people in the games industry will transfer well to help smooth out communication in the club, and allow money to be used more efficiently.
My plan
In the role of treasurer, I plan to work with the other members of the committee to replace as much of the tired and half broken goals, club sticks, helmets and crease equipment that has been on its last legs since before I joined in September of 2020.
In addition to this, I will be looking into every avenue available to gain additional funding for the club, through various grants e.g., the lacrosse foundation, England lacrosse and world lacrosse grant to name a few.
As well various grants, I plan to keep in regular contact with the union. As a relatively small, mixed club, performing well in BUCS leagues, I will work to ensure the club is receiving the level of funding it deserves, allow us to expand our family and reach our full potential.
My aims
- Work alongside the other committee members to re-vitalise the club with new kit.
- Be a friendly approachable committee member passionate about helping the club reach its full potential.
- Support the rest of the committee with the day to day, and event operations in the club.
- Maintain regular contact with the union to explore every possible avenue for funding from them.
- Contact National and international lacrosse foundations and submit bids for grands and donations towards the club.
