Hi, my name is Maddie, and this is my second year with the Ravens and my second year at the university studying business management. I am running for assistant coach as my experience, dedication and knowledge for cheerleading and gymnastics would fit the role. I started gymnastics when I was 4 years old doing artistic, but I excelled when I began tumbling at 15. I had the opportunity to learn from one of the best coaches in the country which really helped improve my confidence and knowledge but suffered from several injuries which meant I couldn’t reach my full potential. I then turned my attention to coaching which I had already had experience with since the age of 14. I love the satisfaction that you see when someone has achieved a new skill or improved skills they’ve been struggling with. I have coached all ages, abilities, and disciplines which I think has only helped improve my coaching methods. I also had a chance to coach cheerleading when the gym began their own team. I began cheerleading when I was 13 spending 3 seasons on a local level 3 team but sadly didn’t have a great experience making me fall out of love with the sport. I had to pluck up the courage to try again with the Ravens – which I’m very thankful I did! I want to be able to provide a much better experience than I had which I think, with my experience, I will be able to do.
