Hiya girlies, I’m running to be your Forwards Captain for the next season 2022/2023.

As you know, I’ve been social sec this year for our team which has been great fun, very rewarding and extremely messy. However, for my last year here, I am striving towards a more serious role where I feel I can make a great impact on the team.

Rugby has been a huge passion of mine since I was about 12. However, back then this just involved shouting in a stadium whilst Wasps (or England) were losing and crushing on Elliot Daly and Henry Slade. I dabbled at a local club at home for a couple of months but due to an extreme lack of numbers, I wasn’t lucky enough to be part of a proper rugby team until my first year at university.

I’ve been part of this team for three years now, going on four and I can honestly say it’s been one of the best decisions I’ve made. I have met some incredible people who have become some of my best friends, and made a whole load of great memories- from Popworld Wednesdays, hungover spoons trips, to dressing up as Minions. My confidence on and off the pitch has grown considerably whilst being a member of UDWRFC, and I feel as though I am now in a good position to be a leader and a role model for this team, alongside our Backs Captain, where my confidence and knowledge can flourish further.

Having been part of committee for two years already, I already have a good relationship in place with the union and other sports teams within the university and have a good understanding and insight of how our club is run. As your forwards captain, I would work alongside your backs captain, our coach and other committee members, as well as liaising with the union to ensure we are up to date with new and exciting opportunities as a club! I will contribute ideas to ensure the team is progressing as well as it can be and will be a friendly face for anyone who needs advice or encouragement.

Something that I am looking to pursue next year is the affiliation with balls for brains. I would like to continue working with them to promote mental health to our team and the wider community.

I am an organised, friendly, and determined individual and I pride myself on creating a positive atmosphere whenever I can to make sure people enjoy themselves whether that be at training, game day or social events. I’d like to believe I am approachable and understanding which are both important traits to have as a leader within a team. I may not be the fittest player on the pitch, or the best at necking a pint, however, I can promise I will always want what is best for us and will be dedicated to the development of this team.

Thank you for taking the time to read my manifesto, I look forward to our next season and sadly my last season with you all! 2,3… <3
