Manifesto

Juliette Green

- President -

My name is Juliette, and I am running to be your President next year. I am 21 years old, currently in my third year studying Sport and Education and going on to do a Masters in Sport Psychology. I plan to do this as a part-time course, spread over two years instead of one. This will reduce my workload per year, meaning I will have more time to prioritise the club and make the most of my presidency. I’ve been a committed and passionate member of UDNC for three years, playing for the First Team and was selected as the co-captain this year. I also play county and regional in Derby and the East Midlands and have previously played with England Mixed. My experiences with the club also range outside of the netball courts, as I have been involved in many of the charity and social events, including the skydive!

As President I would love to continue building on the positive aspects I’ve experienced within the club, whilst also implementing some new ideas I think will continue pushing the club forward and allow us to excel to our full potential. In terms of continuing the achievements of the current committee, my goals will include continuing to emphasise and create an inclusive space for players and members of all abilities within the club. I also want to continue the club’s charitable status by getting everyone participating in raising money for more amazing causes. I hope to ensure there are frequent friendlies for the development teams, so that everyone can experience the feeling of competitive play and game days, irrespective of placement within the club’s teams. I have contacts on committees of several universities around the East and West Midlands meaning I will confidently be able to secure friendlies at all standards with universities close to our campus, giving girls opportunity to play both home and away. To ensure the club continues to fulfil the needs and wants of all members, I want to incorporate feedback surveys/drop-in sessions so that members can pass on their feedback and communicate their thoughts more directly to the committee, hoping to foster a sense of good communication throughout the entire club. This will also be achieved through the implementation of more regular meetings with captains of both BUCs and Development teams, so the captain acts as a representative for their players, to further feedback about the running of the club. I also want to utilise club resources or potentially fundraise to source an extra coach who will work with thirds and development, meaning each team has a coach who can give their undivided attention to their teams and groups, rather than having two coaches trying to balance the needs of the entire club. My last goal is to establish mixed and men’s teams. As I have ties to local leagues, I will be able to provide competitive gameplay to these teams, giving the club an opportunity to expand its inclusivity and continue to grow and recruit new members.

I think my ties to the local netball community, my experience as a captain, and the qualities I’ve developed previously within leadership roles will allow me to make effective change within the club and committee this year, if you vote me in as your President.
