Candidate for the position of Hockey - Women's Captain

Millie Lawrence

Hi, I’m a 2nd year adult nursing student. I’ve played hockey since I was 5 in a variety of positions, and I have coached hockey to ages 5-16years old for 4 years now. I have played club hockey for 15 years and trained for south Yorkshire and JRPC. The reason I am running for captain is that I feel like I am a good leader on and off the pitch and have a great relationship with the girls. I feel being the charity sec this year has given me a good knowledge of what it means to be on the committee and the commitment it takes as captain. I will show up to the session and be as consistent as possible even if I am unable to play. As captain I would like to promote women’s hockey and get more women involved no matter the ability, sport isn’t just about winning but just taking part and feeling part of a team and having a different social circle is excellent for mental health. I would also like the encourage the BUCS team to consistently get a team out each week so we can have a really fun hockey season. I promise to put my all into the role and will work with all you girls to make sure everyone is happy and feels listened to.

I hope you like my ideas and consider me for this role.

Thank you for reading my manifesto!
