Hi, my name is Cliona Saunders-Cooney, and I will be re-running for the role of president. Over the last year I have really enjoyed all aspects of the role and would like to continue it into next year. I believe my experience gained throughout the year will help me further grow and develop the club.
Some of my aims for next year would be:
Social events that suit everyone.
Next year I would like to increase the number of social events throughout the year. This helps members get to know people better out of the pool setting. I would also like to make a greater balance between “going out” socials and sober/activity related socials, at various times of the week so that everyone is able to make something.
Increase our Networking.
Within the university I would like to work closer with other clubs and societies for joint events. This increases the number of people members know within the university and would be especially important for first years, so they always have someone to turn to.
Also networking with other universities is important for our professional development members. This gives them more tournament opportunities to gain competitive experience. It as also important it create these links for people looking to continue playing competitive pool post university.
Mental health of the club.
Next year I would like to work closely with the Student Liaison to further develop the role and improve our mental health training as a committee. I think it’s important that we check in more regularly with our members and support them in any way we can. Whether that is with regards to any issues they are having at sessions or elsewhere.
Professional Development Coaching
One goal is to work with the union to source a coach that would be able to come to certain PD sessions to develop the members abilities.
