My name is Laura Clarke and I’m a first-year BSc Occupational Therapy student.
I’m a member of The Derby University Occupational Therapy Society (DOTS), I’m putting myself forward as secretary for DOTS this year, as I feel it is important to contribute to a society that supports students and promotes the awareness of occupational therapy and its value within society.
I’m very keen to welcome new students and help them on their journey, the same way the DOTS helped me when I first started.
I want to help support the DOTS to connect all of the years including Foundation, Honours and Masters studying Occupational Therapy, so that we can all help each other in different ways. Sharing knowledge and experience is vital within the profession we are all studying, I want to aim to help bring us more together within our society.
I believe it’s important that society is open, democratic and non-judgemental, we welcome everyone and support everyone. After having to study online, I think it’s really important that we focus on bringing our community together for education and social events.
I value the events I have attended since I started a Derby University, it’s an opportunity to meet new friends and share ideas.
For anyone that has met me, they know that I have a lot of creative and crazy energy, I would love to use that within this society that means so much to me. I would love to share more new ideas for events, as well as enjoying the old favourites as my three dogs love the DOTS Dog walks.
If I’m successful I will ensure that DOTS is very proactive over the coming year and we will endeavour to deliver the support that our members need.
Thank you.
