Students have come a long way to become members of this noble university. Whether they have travelled thousands of miles, or just around the corner, every student has their own experience and deserve equal opportunities.

Equality, diversity & inclusion I believe has become a necessary issue in our educational institution embedded in all procedures and of the institution. I believe that chairing the equality and diversity council will be a perfect opportunity for me to work hand in hand with part-time officers and officer trustees to support students and keep up to standards by Improving the channel of communication system between students and part-time officers.

When elected as the Union Equality, diversity and inclusion chair;

I will ensure that students' concerns are properly passed on to the appropriate authorities and addressed to ensure a student community where everyone feels safe and equally accepted.

Also, I will promote good relations and practices toward different minority groups and ensure that the university poses positive experiences for these groups.

I will liaise with the part time officers for equality and diversity, the mental wellbeing and welfare related issues and events, ensuring students views are represented.

I will promote campaigns through the Union of Students representatives for various campuses and classes to highlight the importance of diversity and inclusion and share their thought on how to further enhance current measures on the issue.

Students have the right to quality education without discrimination. Therefore no one should be denied these rights and must feel welcome at the University of Derby.  I stand for these rights and values to make Derby a better place.
