WHO AM I?
My name is Jaspreet Singh. I am about to complete my Bachelor of Economics from the University of Derby in the year between 2023 to 2024.I am running for the position of International Student Officer. As an international student, I feel that many things have been done for international students, so I would like to continue to advance the programs started by current and former officers.
I believe my experience as an event organizer and volunteer has helped me develop leadership and cross-cultural skills. This enhances the sense of community and the ability to build alliances among international students in Manchester.
WHAT RECOMMENDS ME?
As an international student, I know the challenges all international students face, from adapting to a new culture to friendship and social integration. I believe more can be done to improve support for students living thousands of miles from home.No one should feel isolated. Just because you didn't grow up here doesn't mean you don't belong.
WHAT ARE MY PLANS?
University of Derby has shown me that my horizons are much wider than I originally thought. I hope I can get that message across to as many students as possible. For this reason, by establishing informal language clubs where students can meet regularly to learn new languages and host events such as international dinners, dance lessons, or board game nights, UK and international students In addition, creating a “mentoring program” for international and exchange students ensures a smooth transition to their new environment and promotes integration and inclusion. increase. The same works for pairing international students with UK students.
If elected, my main objectives will be:
• To make the international public more aware of their rights in various aspects of the life of all university students. Make sure they get equal opportunities.
• More job fairs and job fairs for international students ensure equal opportunities for careers and activities at the university.
• Encourage the international community and its events to enable international students to become more involved in U.S. activities.
My desire to run for the post of International Officer is championed by the innate spirit of servant-leadership and making a difference. I think this would be the best role for me to show what my experiences can make a great difference for the International students in the University of Derby , I wouldn’t hesitate to go extra mile to support the students in a positive way so as to make their university experience an unforgettable one. Our strong International community is one of the features that make our university special-Let’s keep it that way!
