Kira Critchlow
Hi! I’m Kira, a first-year accounting and finance student. I’m running for the role of Derby Business School Officer. Graduate roles are becoming more competitive, and I want to make sure that every student in the business school has ample opportunities to explore new skills and gain relevant experience to obtain those top roles.
So, what’s the plan?
Work experience and skills.
? I intend to promote opportunities for students of all years throughout the business school. Whether that be insight weeks, taster days or internships I will find and share opportunities to the best of my ability; as well as making these opportunities accessible for students of all backgrounds.
? I will organise workshops for business student specific CV and cover letter writing, as well as targeted application help to get you the role of your dreams. I aim to also work on creating online resources for students to be able to access this valuable information whenever needed.
? I will promote opportunities for students to upskill and receive certification outside of degree courses.
Create a community.
? I will create an open, non-judgemental community for business school students to come together, share ideas and collaborate. Whether this be a general community, a society or discord channel it will be an open place for everyone.
Networking and connections.
? I will create and promote networking events for students to make connections with businesses, employers, and other students with similar interests and ambitions to link up and communicate with aims of obtaining roles and experience.
? I will promote the use of LinkedIn as a tool for business students to create a professional portfolio and connect with others in their field.
But most of all, I will do my very best to listen to the needs of business school students and work my hardest to implement my goals to create success for students. So, if you want a business school officer to increase your employability and experience at the university, you know who to vote for!
