Holly Lloyd – VP Education

My names Holly Lloyd, I've been studying at Derby University for 3 years. Within the past year I've involved myself within the student led services by joining RAG, which works alongside charities to raise money and awareness in and around the university. I also work alongside the sports council in running the social media accounts, which has given me the opportunity to work alongside both sport & society’s to hear what engagement they’d like to see from us.

Through my experience as a student who's studying a small creative arts course I understand first hand the frustrations of feeling like your voice isn't being heard when giving feedback to student and union representatives.

Better funding/support for field work and placement students.

Some compulsory courses now require field work that costs up to £400 for attending (travel, equipment, materials etc.). There is currently little known support available. People should not struggle with affording education after paying all their fees.

- To improve and work on accessibility to travel bursaries, making them easier to apply for and clearer to all students HE/FE & Apprentice.

- To improve the travel bursary by pushing for an increase in funding and support for FE/HE & Apprenticeship students.
