A Term of Progress, Unity and Triumphs.

As we bid farewell to another year, I find myself reflecting on the multitude of successes and shared experiences that have defined our journey together thus far. Serving as your Union President has been both an honour and an immense responsibility, and I am extremely proud of the progress the Union has made so far since taking office as Union President.

As we bid farewell to another year, I find myself reflecting on the multitude of successes and shared experiences that have defined our journey together thus far. Serving as your Union President has been both an honour and an immense responsibility, and I am extremely proud of the progress the Union has made so far since taking office as Union President.

Our continued commitment to inclusivity and diversity was highlighted during Disability History Month and Black History Month. Through engaging events and thought-provoking discussions, we not only commemorated these significant occasions but also used these months to continue taking steps toward creating a more inclusive and understanding Union and student community. The spirit of unity and greater visibility that emerged during these months has been inspirational.

A major aspect of my tenure has been the work undertaken with my manifesto. The promises made during my campaign have not only been scoped out but actively pursued. From cost-of-living initiatives to accessible education principles, underscoring my continued commitment to deliver. Whilst the work has been slower than expected as my aims cover such a huge area, the longevity of scope within my work I hope will speak for itself. As the saying goes, Rome wasn’t built in a day!

Improving working ties with the University has been a focal point of some of my actions, and I am pleased to report the success we've achieved in this regard. Through open dialogue and collaborative working, we've forged a stronger, closer working ties with the University, from creating new forms of support links with department heads, to making operational changes to our scrutiny process to improve transparency and allow for the University's senior leadership to engage with our accountability process. Our relationship with the University is one of the utmost importance.

Celebrating success in the activities has been exhilarating once again this year. The achievements of our Union Sports Clubs, Societies and Student-Led Services have not only brought pride but have also highlighted the importance of teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship. These successes highlight the diverse talents and dedication present within our Union student body.

As we look toward the future, I am filled with optimism. The lessons learned from Disability History Month, Black History Month, manifesto endeavours and improved University relations have indeed taught me valuable lessons once again. Together, let us continue to create a community that values diversity, advocates for positive change, and celebrates shared accomplishments.

I would also like to extend my deepest thanks to each member of our Union career staff for their support and commitment to the student body.

Wishing you all a rejuvenating break and eagerly anticipating the exciting prospects the coming term holds.
