January can be a particularly difficult time financially, after what may have been quite a ‘spendy’ Christmas break.

We wanted to share some tips that'll help you manage your budget and make sure you can still cover your essential costs. A few small steps can help:

  • Reviewing your income and outgoings so you know where your money is going

  • Planning ahead for larger costs, such as rent or placement-related expenses

  • Asking for support early if you’re struggling, rather than waiting until things feel unmanageable

There is support available if you’re worried about money, including budgeting guidance, advice on hardship funding, and help understanding your student finance or benefits options. Please reach out to a Union Advisor for support if you need it. You can do so by booking an appointment online using our online booking form.
