Rugby League

University of Derby: Rugby League is a small club with a big club mentality, and is looking for new members to join and help build the club up, on and off of the pitch. That could be you...

Students of all backgrounds are more than welcome to join the team; even if you're just looking to compete, get fit, or just want to be a part of the group. Come see what we're all about!

The team will be competing in the BUCS (British Universities and Colleges Sport) league between October and March, with home matches taking place on the Rugby 4G pitch at the Kedleston road campus.  The team will also be competing in BUCS 9's tournaments in October and November. We have set high expectations for oureslves this season, following a disappointing season, where we saw a lot of potential in the squad. Becoming a member of our Rugby League team is mostly about being a valued member of a great bunch of guys and enjoying ourselves on and off of the pitch as a sporting team.

Training will be held on monday evenings at 5:30-7:00, these sessions will be run by our head coach Jamie Baxter. Following this matches will be played on wednesdays, whether they are at home or away.

Members will encouraged to be supportive of each other, as well as working together as a team, not only during training and matches, but throughout other events the club will be involved in, such as socials or other events. We, as a club, want members to feel like a valued member of the group, and that their voice is heard and listened to as much as anyone elses.

Whether you have played Rugby League before, are returning from a period of absence, or are a complete novice, we look forward to welcoming you into our uni family!
