In August 2025 the UniBuses a signature of the University and arguably a selling point will no longer be free and will in fact be charging students per single way trip £2 or £300 for an Annual Pass this will inhibit peoples abilities to get to societies held at Kedleston Road campus and will prevent future or current members from joining. It will also make transport for exams more difficult for those with mobility issues or those arriving by train. So I am calling for a cancellation of fees.

10:24pm on 30 Apr 25 The University of Derby has shown it has enough money to develop it's infrastructure, yet has consistently reduced funding and withdrawn support from its students. This is poor business practice, especially considering most, if not all, of the funding for such efforts (like the Business School development) comes from the students themselves - who already struggle to make ends meet!

10:47pm on 30 Apr 25 Charging students for the buses is very shortsighted, doing so will reduce the total number of National Students from attending the University and overall will cause more harm to the local economy of Derby as there will be less students overall seen as Student will be less incentivized to go to Derby because of the higher costs of transport.

8:08am on 1 May 25 i commute to university which takes me around 2 hours to get to uni and back home. trains and busses are already costing me lots of money and i believe that making students pay for the bus will be disadvantaging a lot of us who are struggling. keep busses free!

2:42pm on 1 May 25 As an international student, I find it absolutely mind-blowing that along with paying £14000 per year, I am now required to pay for the uni bus. As a university with such a high number of international students, It makes me wonder just what are they doing with our money. This decision is simply greedy and ill intentioned. Not to mention just how many disabled students will be at a disadvantage now. Keep them free, we know you can afford to!

1:08pm on 2 May 25 As an international student the unibus has really helped in ensuring timely attendance,of classes, coming to library even without lectures, you have disabled the students that are already struggling and needs support, please re consider the idea.

6:52am on 4 May 25 Feels like a massive insult. Not only is it not free any more but the price puts it inline with normal busses. I would love to see the numbers of students they use the bus too. If it's enough it would mean that this actually becomes quite a profit generator for the bus company. They would be foolish to have moved over to a paid model without doing some predictions on how much money will be made. So I would like to know how much profit they expect from this. Where is that money going. Did the bus company provide any incentives.

1:38pm on 8 May 25 I think there is already a lot of financial strain on student, especially if traveling outside of the city. That it will have a detrimental effect on the intake of students for the university and this will have a financial implication on the city.

1:39pm on 8 May 25 With the attacks in Markeaton Park and in Derby City Centre, the alternative of walking is a concern for people's safety. Derby students shouldn't be penalised for needing to keep themselves safe.

5:16pm on 26 May 25 Seriously messed up of the uni to do this to students, after raising accom prices, tuition fees AND in a cost of living crisis. They consistently prove that they do not care about students
