On Tuesday 28th February the Union had its Annual General Meeting, where a series of changes to the Union of Students were voted on by over 50 students. It was great to see so many members taking part in this important process, and we would like to thank everyone who turned out to vote and voice your opinions, either in person, virtually or by using our postal voting system.

The outcome of each Proposal was as follows:

Minutes from the AGM on 25.05.2022

PASSED

The minutes from the AGM last were approved. There was a question about the asterix (*) next to some of the attendees names, this was to highlight that they were include in more than one list (eg, Student Representatives and Union Societies). You can view the minutes from the previous AGM here.

Trustee Report & Financial Statements

PASSED

The Trustee Report and the Union Financial Statements for the year ended 31.07.2022 were approved.

Affiliations

PASSED

The Union’s affiliations were approved.

Proposal 1: FE Student Officer PASSED

Creating a new Student Officer role for FE students at Derby.


Proposal 2: Special Votes PASSED

A new Standing Order which covers changes to referendums, special votes and special provisions.


Proposal 3: Articles of Association PASSED

The Union Articles of Association underwent an update review.


Proposal 4: Standing Orders PASSED

The Union Standing Orders underwent an update review.

What Happens Next?

Changes approved at the AGM will be put into effect and amended in our Standing Orders as soon as possible. You can expect to see these changes in action very soon.
