    Sign language course

    Passed
Sign language is a brilliant skill to know but difficult to access. There are many students in the uni that use sign language as their primary communication. I suggest some kind of short course to learn the basics to help integration with hearing impaired students and those around us in our everyday life. No one should find it difficult to communicate, and hearing impaired life can be lonely!

10:07am on 1 Nov 17 Excellent idea. Sign language courses can be expensive to fund but a session about the basics, some simple signs etc would be really usefull and might make Derbys hearing impaired students feel more included.

2:04pm on 7 Nov 17 Hi Atlanta, The Union of Students has a British Sign Language Society that you can join. It is new to the Union this year and have a coach who will be coming in to do sessions with members. If you would like more information on this I have copied the link to their Facebook group below. You can also access more information about the society and its committee on the Get Involved section of this website. https://www.facebook.com/groups/380576205710709/ I hope this helps!
