    Microwaves

    Passed
Somewhere to be able to heat food up, especially for those who commute. Students who commute can sometimes stay all day at uni and have to buy food because cannot heat up their own dinners.

2:01pm on 31 Oct 17 Hello! My name is Grace and I am the President at the Union of Students. This is a fab idea and is in fact something that I'm working on at the moment. I feel as strongly as you do that there should be microwave provision at all sites. I'm meeting with some members of University staff on the 10th of November to try and make this happen. There will be updates from the Union on this when we are finally sure of when/where these microwaves/kettles will go. I hope this helps.

7:37pm on 17 Nov 17 Hi Grace, Just as a matter of interest, how did your meeting with the university staff go on the 10th. Does it sound positive that this may be implemented? Thanks Charles

2:47pm on 27 Nov 17 Hi Charles, my meeting went very well. We are going to be trialing a microwave service for a few weeks at Kedleston Road and if that goes without any issues then we will be implementing it across all sites. I have given a list of preferred locations to the University for each site and am awaiting funding to purchase them. I will update on here when I have dates!

2:32pm on 25 Apr 18 Glad to see this has alrady been mentioned, a few students in my programme have asked me to bring this up as well, lately. Admittedly this looks like a slightly old thread; did anything come of the trial?

2:26pm on 11 Jul 18 Hello! I am happy to let you know it is permenantly in place at Kedleston Road. In respect to getting microwaves on other sites the student voice will be really important. I hope this is useful :)
