    [RepNet] UDSU Cinema !

    Passed
    • University
To start student-run cinema at Kedleston Road Campus. It will be a place to see the films you missed in the cinema on the big screen or students can do their own films screening. The aim will be to provide cinematic entertainment for students, staff and the local community.

1:59pm on 15 May 17 What an outstanding idea. I would wager that initial the holders of the purse strings might consider this to be frivolous however, the scope going forwards is huge. The students can showcase their work, we can have guest speakers in who will utilise the facility and of course those students who are studying in the arts will LOVE this. Imagine how much use the medical students could get out of this? Live surgeries beamed in perhaps? As I say the scope is very broad indeed.

11pm on 1 Jun 17 Have you considered the cost of having film licenses for such a cinema - from what I've heard they're very expensive!

3:56pm on 5 Jun 17 Just an idea but how about use it to improve student presentation skills? For many students on different degrees, they have to delivery presentations and attend and perform at many public speaking events. Maybe organise sessions throughout the year to help students develop their communication/presentation skills?
